No Rush Hour on the Bike!

Yet another reason to go by bike, especially in the DC area – in a study published by NAVTEQ (they make all those nifty maps where you can see traffic flow online)- today, Washington D.C. ranked 2nd only to New York City in its list of the Top-10 Worst Rush Hours in America.  Sweet. Or not so much. Heavy traffic also equates to more air pollution. Yuck.

A look at DC traffic this afternoon…. not too busy yet, but rush-hour is coming!

So how do you avoid the #2 Worst Rush Hour in the country and do your part to prevent air pollution?? Simple. Go by bike! There is a bit of a satisfying feeling pedaling past traffic knowing that while most other folks are stuck sitting and listening to mostly commercials on the radio, you’re making progress toward your destination, getting exercise, and not adding to local air pollution. Win-win situation for the cyclist here!
