The Coldest Morning (yet)

And I have the feeling that this is just the start of many cold rides where my toes and fingers really start to not like me after about 30 minutes and I show up at work looking like the Michelin Man’s daughter. But in reality, once I started moving, I actually stayed fairly warm. This also considering, that I was quite layered up, with shorts, two pairs of tights (Windstopper tights rock, jsyk), short sleeve base layer, long-sleeve heavy base layer (with built-in hood / face mask), amazing winter jacket, two pairs of gloves, wool socks and neoprene shoe covers. Whew. It almost took longer to layer up then it did to ride in. (okay not really, but you get the point).

Also considering I spent a decent amount of time out on the bike this weekend as well, when I woke up this morning, the cold, while unpleasant, wasn’t a surprise. What was slightly surprising was the noticeable decrease in the number of other cyclists out on the path. I suppose freezing temperatures can be a deterrent for sure. But looking at the forecast, winter is finally starting to show her face, as we’re just about two-weeks away from the “official” start of winter, it certainly feels like it outside!

Now today’s 32 degree morning has been the coldest this season yet, I’m willing to wager it loses its title before the end of the week! So bundle up and keep riding!
